Introducing our new care manager

A career in care called to Caroline

It is with great pleasure we introduce to you Caroline Gunning, our newly appointed care manager.  She will head up the care and office team in the office on Highgate, Kendal.  She brings her experience in HR and as a business adviser, as well as many practical skills she has gained over the years in Scouting.  Although currently living near Appleby she has her eye on an apartment at Sandside overlooking the River Kent and Lakeland Fells.

When we placed the advertisement for the care manager role we weren’t very specific about the role and gave little information about the company, because we wanted to recruit someone who is versatile, with a strong personality and a ‘can do’ attitude.  This role called for an enthusiastic visionary, and someone who cares about exemplary homecare as much as we do.

Dr. Joshua Macaulay, director, explains “with over 40 applicants for the role, we worked hard to find someone who would best reflect our business ethos and could be flexible within a growing business.  We felt that she will be a steady presence to inspire, motivate and support our staff.  More importantly Caroline has a genuine warmth and understanding of people with disabilities, mobility issues and social isolation, all gained from personal experience and prior working environments.”

We asked Caroline why she chose to apply for the care manager role, and she said “very rarely does an opportunity to be part of something special come along, especially a new venture that truly has people at the heart of all it does.  From the first conversation with Joshua I knew that this was not to be missed.  I had a phone interview, an informal breakfast interview and an assessment centre interview, by the end of the each stage I was more enthused and keen to progress.  When I received the phone call offering me the position I was shocked and pleased.  I haven’t stopped smiling since!”

Over the coming months Caroline will put her HR experience to good use as we recruit and train exceptional homecare assistants, and then she will start meeting clients, assisting them in creating care plans that enable  people to live up to our motto of ‘living life to the full’.
