Merry Christmas from all at Westmorland Homecare
21/12/2019

The theme of this year’s Kendal Torchlight Procession was ‘Made in the Lakes’ and, after much consideration, we decided the only theme to go with was Postman Pat.
The famous children’s character was the creation of the late author and TV presenter John Cunliffe, who lived in Kendal for a period of time, with the town and surrounding countryside and villages being the inspiration for his wonderful stories.
Postman Pat is also a big part of his community and we felt that is exactly how Westmorland Homecare are in Kendal and the South Lakes, ensuing people in our community are looked after across the region.
With our care coordinators Sarka and Amy steering the design of the float, it was a labour of love for several months in the making and a real team effort where everyone was involved.
At our client socials it was great to see everyone the whole team helping produce such a wonderful design.
The day of the Kendal Torchlight Procession it rained continuously, however, the weather cleared for the procession in the evening.
With the crowds lining the streets of the town, cheering and singing along as the Postman Pat theme tune was pumped out, it was great to see such a fantastic turnout in Kendal.
To make the evening even more special, we were absolutely blown away to win two awards – Best Overall Float and Best Commercial Entry
Co-ordinator Amy said, “It is always such a magical event to get involved in, many hours of hard work goes into it, seeing the looks on people’s faces is priceless, we can’t wait for next year”
A massive thank you to the Kendal Torchlight Carnival Team – more information can be found at https://www.kendaltorchlightcarnival.co.uk/
