A homecare provider has appointed a new Care Manager at its Poulton, Fylde and Wyre branch.
Paige Jones, 28, who lives at Bispham, was previously the branch’s Senior Training and Development Coordinator.
“I am really excited to be taking on this role,” said Paige. “I am working in an industry I love. I enjoy helping people, whether they be clients or members of staff.”
Westmorland Homecare provides care to enable vulnerable and often frail people over the age of 18 to live independently in their own home. Its services include homecare, such as help with housekeeping and meal preparation, and personal care, which includes support with medication, dressing and bathing and helping clients live life to the full.
The Poulton, Fylde and Wyre branch employs 63 people, including homecare assistants and office staff, and covers an area which includes Fleetwood, Garstang, Preston, Blackpool, Poulton, Thornton-Cleveleys and Lytham St Annes.
Paige grew up in Blackburn and attended Lytham St Anne’s High School and Cardinal Newman College in Preston. She joined the care sector at the age of 19.
“My desire to work in the sector started with my nan, who was diagnosed with dementia when I was still at primary school,” said Paige. “I enjoyed looking after my nan, supporting her and finding ways to meet her ever-changing needs and that inspired me to want to do something similar with other people.”
After working in a care home, Paige joined Westmorland Homecare’s Poulton branch as a homecare assistant in 2020. She became a team leader and later the branch’s Senior Training and Development Coordinator.
In December last year she was named Coordinator of the Year at Westmorland Homecare’s annual awards ceremony.
In her new role as Care Manager Paige said she wanted to focus on those outstanding ‘magic moments’ where staff often went the extra mile to help clients. “I want to concentrate on all the hard work of our staff and reflect on what that means for our clients and let family members know about all the amazing things our staff do for their loved-ones,” she said. “I also want our team to experience these heart-warming moments as they see what we are doing for our clients.”
Paige plans to continue to hold regular social events for clients and staff.
“The thing that gives me the most satisfaction about working for Westmorland Homecare is the positive feedback we receive from clients and their families and seeing the difference we are making in helping people maintain their independence and keeping clients engaged with the community,” she said.
In her spare time Paige enjoys music and going to concerts and walking her dog, a cockapoo called Henry. “Henry has been to a few of our social events because the clients love seeing him,” she said.
