As a relatively new company, in 2018 we decided we wanted to test ourselves against the best in the land – not just in our own sector, but diverse businesses and organisations.
We therefore entered the Rural Business Awards (North) competition for the Best Rural Start-up Company in the north of England.
As you can imagine, we faced stiff competition from many other start-up businesses but are absolutely delighted to announce that we are the regional winners!
“It has been such a pleasure working with our local community developing relationships and supporting some amazing people across the county.” says co-founder of Westmorland Homecare, Dr Chris Moss.
“Hand on heart, we never dreamed that we might actually win or even get placed; don’t get me wrong, our team do magnificent work but when you look at the competition… it was fierce to say the least!”
Westmorland Homecare will now go forward to the national finals to be held in February 2019 – watch this space for more news from South Lakeland’s award winning home care provider!
What are the Rural Business Awards?
The Rural Business Awards (RBAs) were established in 2014 by Jemma Clifford and Anna Price – two business owners who work in rural Leicestershire.
The RBAs work with partner organisations large and small across the UK including Amazon, Openreach, HSBC, DEFRA, the CLA, Fisher German, Avantigas, the FSB, and the IFB as well as many niche rural organisations and charities.
The aim of the awards is to give recognition to businesses operating right across the rural sector, to acknowledge the breadth and depth of opportunity presented by the Great British countryside. The RBAs celebrate the achievements of our rural businesses, from engineering through to artisan food producers and professional services organisations.
The eleven awards are decided by an independent panel of judges drawn from the rural business sector, official agencies and rural charitable organisations.
